Beijing Sontin Metallugical Technology Development Co., Ltd. is established after separating from Shougang Corparation as the result of reform and restructuring of Shougang which has a long history and enjoys worldwide reputation in iron and steel making engineering.

Shougang Corporation was established in 1919.Before founding of P.R.China in 1949,the total iron production in 30 years was only 286,000 tons.Shougang was given new life since P.R.China was founded. In 1958,the first side-blow converter of China was put up in Shougang and from then on,Shougang saw off the period when Shougang had no steel product. In 1964,the first oxyen top-blown convert of 30 tons capacity in China was put up in Shougang, which opened a new period of steel production of China.In 1978, with total steel production of 1.79 million tons,Shougang became one of the 10 largest steel producers of China.

Thanks to the reform policy of the country ,in 1979,Shougang was listed in the first batch of experimental entities for the national economid system reform. And Shougang broke through the bondage of planned economy and gained rapid development. No.2 blast furnace applied 37 items of the world and the country advanced technology and was the first in China to be e4quipped with pulverized coal injection system. it became the first modernized blast furnace. By importing and reconstruction of second-hand equipment, Shougang put up NO.2steelmaking Plant, No.3 Steelmaking Plant, No.2 Wire Rod Plant, NO.3 Wire Plant, Medium And Thick Plate Plant, 30,000m3 Oxygen Plant ,and self-serving Power Plant. By implementing a series of important projects as mentioned above, Shougang’s production scale was enlarged rapidly. In 1994,Shougang achieved 8.24 million tons of steel production and ranked the first in the country. Taking steel industry as its main, Shougang is engaged in mining, machinery, electronics, building, real estate, service, and foreign trade at the same time.

SONTIN is an independent legal entity engaged in design, supply of complete equipment set, and erection. Its scope of word includes: design of large, medium, and small scale steel pant in home and abroad; design of computer control, electrical drive, and instrumental control design of non-standard equipment and integrating of equipment set;; equipment importing and repair-supplementing-reconstruction; general contracting of metallurgical project; with strong technological power, SONTIN has contracted and completed a number of reputable turkey projects for different steel producers which are distributed in more than 10 provinces and regions in China. The word covered plant reconstruction, expansion, building up, and equipment manufacturing and erection, adjustment and commissioning, technical service for production target achievement and ensurance. SONTIN has completed reconstruction word of coke oven plant for Shanxi Hongyang Steel, sinter plant for Chengde steel, and blast furnace for Shijiazhuang Steel; putting up (including engineering, equipment manufacturing and supply, adjustment and commissioning )1.0 million tpy steel making and continuous casting plant and 0.6 million tpy high-speed wire rod plant for Hebei Jin’an corp., 3.0 million tpy steel making and continuous casting plant for Handan Dongshan Steel,3.0 million tpy steel making and continuous casting plant for Xingtai Longhai,1.5 million tpy steel making and continuous casting plant for Tangshan Huarui Steel. SONTIN possesses advantaged theory and technology of cutting and rolling in rolling mill, water-through cooling, and high pressure water descaling, energy saving and efficiency improvement, which have all been testified by industrialized production.

At present, the ongoing projects contracted by SONTIN are: iron making plant for Hebei Cishan Steel, slab continuous casting plant for Hebei Dongshan Steel, 2nd phase of steel making plant for Shandong Fushan Corp., and iron making plant for Shanxi Yujin Steel.
